When tradition meets innovation – A brand new Circus Knie concept
Like its acrobats, the Circus Knie is constantly in motion – not only across the stage or from one city to the next, but in a far more multidimensional way. Since 2020, the organization, backed by more than 100 years of experience and tradition, has been reimagining the classic circus experience familiar to generations of enthusiasts and steering it toward a new, modern future. How? By placing greater emphasis on the elements that make the Circus truly unforgettable: immersive storytelling, spectacular special effects, such as water curtains, and unique lighting design.
In this refreshed and widely appreciated approach, the narrative takes center stage alongside the performances, turning each artist’s individual act into a piece of a much larger, cohesive artistic vision. The result is a richer, more immersive experience – a complete production that elevates the artistry of the Circus as a whole.
Bringing such a live show to life that audiences want to experience again and again demands highly specialized equipment, production expertise – the kind of authentic, prevision-crafted processes that only true local experts can deliver, and high-quality transportation to rely on to bring all pieces of a spectacular show together.
From Asia with care – Two special transportations from Shanghai & Singapore
Starting from the production aspect – Who better to create and faithfully bring to the stage the customs, artistry, and cultural heritage of a country than its finest artisans?
One of the most remarkable elements of Circus Knie’s production was the staging of one of China’s most beautiful traditions: The Chinese lion’s dance. Among the first shipments that SWISS WorldCargo transported for Circus Knie from Asia into Switzerland were in fact lion dance costumes and water poles for the traditional dance, usually performed on water, as part of the Chinese New Year celebration – a ritual believed to bring good luck in China and presented for the very first time in a circus setting at Circus Knie. The local production of these exceptional pieces alone required two to three months of craftsmanship. Their transport presented a significant logistical challenge: the lion heads were fragile and of significant size, while the poles were long and heavy, demanding careful handling at every stage of the journey.
A second shipment – departed from the Orient in the belly of one of SWISS’ aircraft with Zurich as final destination – brought additional acrobatics equipment including delicate, high-quality components that required particular care and precision in transport. Timely delivery of these consignments was essential to ensure that every visual and technical detail was in place, allowing the full brilliance of the show to become reality. Also included in SWISS WorldCargo’s transport were several components of a scenic elephant, another striking element that helped shape the Circus Knie’s new and modern artistic concept vividly on stage before the audience.
A spectacular transportation for a spectacular show
Both in Shanghai and Singapore, the transportation process was carefully coordinated and ran with precision. SWISS WorldCargo’s regional colleagues introduced Circus Knie to one of our trusted local agents in the Asian region, who then took charge of handling the specific requirements of the customer’s cargo.
Once connected, the circus shared the cargo details with the agent, who carried out all necessary checks and verifications to confirm the shipment’s suitability for air cargo transport. The equipment was then professionally packed, secured onto pallets, and prepared for its journey.
Handled with care from departure to arrival, the shipments travelled safely and on schedule in the belly hold of our aircraft – arriving ready for their moment in the spotlight.
We care for your first impression on stage. We care for your artistry’s legacy. We care for your cargo.
