Washington, D.C.: Excellence written in capital

From 28 March 2024, Swiss WorldCargo has commenced two weekly flight operations between Zurich and Washington, D.C. The flights are operated with the Airbus A333 aircraft and directly connect a critical political and economic hub with the oldest democracy in Europe.

The District of Columbia and the surrounding states of Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland are renowned for their thriving pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and concentration of top companies. The good news for these industries is that Swiss WorldCargo has ample experience and expertise in handling pharmaceuticals, perishables and care-intensive cargo.

We will focus on specialized cargo services to serve Washington, D.C.’s diverse needs effectively. Drawing on our extensive expertise in taking care of a wide range of cargo, we are well-equipped to transport high-value goods, sophisticated technology equipment, and pharmaceuticals, aligning perfectly with the region’s economic composition.

Toronto: Seamless Cargo transport between Swiss and Canadian peaks

SWISS and Swiss WorldCargo’s new route from Zurich to Toronto and back is slated to take off on 10 May 2024. Five weekly flights will be operated between the cities with the same Airbus model — the A333 aircraft – employed on the Zurich-Washington, D.C. route.

Our division currently serves two routes in Canada, which runs from Zurich to Montreal and Vancouver. However, with the new service, Toronto is expected to play a strategic role in Swiss WorldCargo’s network. The new route from Zurich to Toronto will serve various industries in the area, including manufacturing, technology, and, most importantly, pharmaceutical and healthcare. The city is also well known for its strength in technology, automotive, and financial services — all of which will benefit from Swiss WorldCargo’s comprehensive logistical solutions.

Swiss WorldCargo is committed to provide its customers with services and products to successfully transport sensitive and temperature-controlled cargo, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector. As an official member of Pharma.Aero, our focus remains on deploying advanced cold chain solutions to ensure the seamless transportation of pharmaceuticals. With these in place, our division can ensure optimal temperature control throughout the journey and thus guarantee the integrity and efficacy of critical pharmaceuticals and life science products.

An exciting expansion for enhanced connectivity

Adding Washington, D.C. and Toronto to the Swiss WorldCargo’s network is a significant strategic expansion. These new destinations are added to the current service in the region, which includes routes to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Montreal, New York, Newark, and San Francisco.

The new routes are expected to continue enhancing connectivity between Europe and North America, while providing a vital link for critical industries like pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and technology. At Swiss WorldCargo we’re confident that these new network additions will foster stronger economic ties, streamline logistics solutions, and create a more interconnected future for our customers on both sides of the Atlantic.
