We are proud to state that our success is our people. Today we want to celebrate our success.

Celebrating our people working tirelessly behind the scenes

One secret that makes Swiss WorldCargo successful is the dedication of its team members. We asked our experts what motivates them to be so committed, and they gave us an insight into their relationship with their work. Their stories reveal a deep sense of purpose that goes far beyond logistics, a positive sense of belonging to a strong team, and pride in the fact that their work helps to ensure that global trade runs smoothly.

Jun Nakatani – Head of Cargo Japan and Korea at Swiss WorldCargo, has been working in the airfreight industry since 1989, driven by a desire to engage with global economic developments and be part of such a dynamic field. When we asked him about the aspects of his role that he particularly values and that make him proud in his role, his ‘extra mile’ attitude came across very clearly: “Delivering the best solution to our customers or even more than they expect” he states. Being surrounded by the same enthusiasm is also important to Nakatani: “Making a difference together with our great, passionate colleagues in the organization who are facing the same challenges” he adds. Last but not least, is the feeling of belonging: “Feeling that, as a team, we share one goal”.

Sandrine Gentile Montel – Head of Cargo Switzerland at Swiss WorldCargo, joined our airfreight division in 2022 but she is not new to the aviation industry, having previously worked as Head of Cabin for SWISS Geneva base, combining this previous role with her experience as a Flight Attendant. When asked what inspired her to work in the airfreight industry, she has a clear answer: “As a versatile aviation professional seeking a new challenge, I was immediately intrigued by the world of airfreight, even though I initially knew little about it. The opportunity to dive into a completely new field was exciting, and I had a feeling it would be fascinating. Three years in, that feeling has proven true. I continue to be inspired by the deep expertise of many of my colleagues and partners across Swiss WorldCargo”. When asked about her proudest moment working at Swiss WorldCargo, Sandrine finds it difficult to select just one: “I’m proud of every team success we achieve, whether it’s reaching commercial milestones, representing Swiss WorldCargo at industry events, or witnessing the growth and development of my teammates”.

Many are drawn to the fascinating airfreight field because it connects people and products across countries: the chance to transport essential goods, such as lifesaving medicines, to customers around the world, gives their work a sense of purpose. This is the case for Halit Mimaroglu – Sales Executive North / East Germany at Swiss WorldCargo – who responds to the question of what he particularly values about his work by saying: “I am an integral part of the global supply chain, contributing significantly to ensure that international goods traffic operates reliably and on schedule”. The importance of an airfreight professional goes way beyond mere operations, as Halit states: “The air freight industry is considered a leading indicator of economic developments in the global economy — therefore, my contribution is not only operationally but also strategically important”.

These are three of the many remarkable contributions and stories that shape the spirit and success of Swiss WorldCargo.

The DNA of Swiss WorldCargo: People first

The role of an airfreight specialist is multifaceted and the success of Swiss WorldCargo lies in its people’s personal and professional ability to combine various skills in their roles. When you think about airfreight, you might mainly picture cargo handlers, ground teams or aircraft specialists, but at Swiss WorldCargo the work involves much more: our professionals are skilled planners, meticulous data analysts, sustainability champions, IT and safety experts, customer-centric commercial representatives, training gurus, marketing wizards, network optimizers, and much more.

At Swiss WorldCargo we give back to our outstanding colleagues for their great contribution to the division by ensuring they can work, grow, and enjoy their job in a positive and supportive environment they are happy to return to every day.

Strong teamwork brings strong progress

The achievements of Swiss WorldCargo over the past year demonstrate the strength of the collaboration, dedication, and commitment of our team: Three new long-haul routes were added to the SWISS network and are operated by Swiss WorldCargo, which is a testament to our division’s commitment to serving global trade. Additionally, we have enhanced our digital presence on various marketplaces, bringing us one step closer to achieving our digitalization goals. We have established and further developed key partnerships to ensure that we continue offering our customers high-quality, reliable airfreight services.

Swiss WorldCargo’s people move more than goods

Our experts move trust, efficiency, and progress. Their efforts ensure that vital supplies continue to reach their final destination in both good times and more challenging circumstances.
